Zielona Gora, Poland
The curators of Millennium Park in Zielona Gora asked Observatorium to design a public sculpture for a large city park. The answer was a not enclosed garden, built by Young Observatorium.
Context
For the next two years (2013 – 2014) the Millennium Park and its surroundings will experience temporary artistic and architectonic interventions along with attempts of new scenarios including implementation of contemporary art elements. During this time cooperation of artists, architects and designers with local community will be continued. Until revitalisation in the Millennium Park there will be attempts of variety of opportunities and proposals of cultural objects presence in this public space in reference to every day needs of local residents.
Intention
We are young dutch and italian designers, studing and training at Observatorium. We will create a contemporary dutchitalian version of a japanese garden as a starting point for a park. We will perform the finding, defining and maintaining of the garden, using the abbreviation of our names as a slogan: "LYSM "that in internet slang means "Love You So Much". To make a LYSM garden we don't need expensive tools or materials, we need a detailed plan, our hands, personal experience, time, will and patience. We will not build a garden but we will find a garden in the park and start working it. Design what is there! (Motto of Observatorium)
Every day from 10-13 and from 16-20 we will work the ground on our knees. Like snails or moles we will slowly progress and our trace is a garden. Anytime passers-by can speak to us and enjoy the tea we make from herbs in the park. We will have spare tools for people who want to join us in tracing the garden.
