Hut Festival 'The Hamlet'
Building together a temporary settlement - Experience the smells and sounds of construction!
The first event of the Hut Festival will take place at the Railway Zone (Spoorzone) in Tilburg from Saturday 3rd September until Sunday 11th September 2011. During this unique event several renowned artists, designers and architects will build huts and do-it-yourself architecture in a temporary village.
Everyone is welcome to participate all week long in the construction of this temporary village within the city of Tilburg. Visitors can observe, smell and experience this event ... and can also help with building a hut themselves!
De Vlek is a condition-free haven of hospitality and imagination. It will put Brabant on the (inter)national map. The following renowned names in design and architecture have contributed creative sketches and drawings: Onix Architects from Groningen, Studio Boot from Den Bosch, Detours from Denmark, La Bolleur from Eindhoven, Observatorium from Rotterdam, Frank Havermans from Heeswijk, Piet Hein Eek from Eindhoven, Hilberink Bosch Architects from Berlicum and 2012 Architecten from Rotterdam.
Together, all professional participants and visitors will build a special village within the city of Tilburg, to form a 'Stain'. A 'stain' is the name that was used to call a (temporary) settlement in times gone by. These settlements were entitled to special rights. The shape of each settlement was determined by the environment, using construction materials that were available at that time. This principle is the inspiration for the idea.
At Hut Festival 'The Stain', participants and visitors will experience the scents and sounds of craftsmanship all week long. Alongside all of this, visitors will also have the chance to enjoy live-music and theatre. It will be a special and unique event in which children and pupils will have their own role. A genuine village, including a village square, a theatre, a factory, a pub/restaurant, a playground and a large fireplace.

zaterdag 3 t/m zondag 11 september 2011 tijdens Tilburg Textiles, in de Spoorzone Tilburg
Zwetende bouwers, loslopende vrouwen met toolbelts en ander ongeregeld volk. Ronkende zagen, tikkende hamers, de geur van hout. Vanaf 3 september wordt er een week lang door architecten, ontwerpers, kunstenaars en verder ieder die daar zin in heeft, een dorp gebouwd. Rondom de polygonale hal in de Spoorzone van de stad Tilburg. Op do 8 september om 16.00 uur opent Ruud Vreeman het Feest van Rook & Vuur, dan is het merendeel van de bouwwerken in de Vlek klaar en start het Programma van Leven.
Passie voor bouwen
Het Huttenfestival De Vlek, naar het concept van Studio Boot, gaat over bouwen in vrijheid en de romantiek van het bouwen, zoals we vroeger vol verwachting keken naar het opbouwen van de kermis in het dorp.
