Work on XL public artwork has started - PORT OF ROTTERDAM (english)

The Port of Rotterdam has extended its harbor area by reclaiming land from the North Sea, providing space for industrial activities such as fully automated container terminals and distribution.
To crown this major creation of land, beaches and infrastructure a viewpoint/ attraction/ sculpture was commissioned.
De Zandwacht/ The Sandwatch consists of three concrete frames each representing a stage in the formation of a sand dune. The sculptural forms derive from the wind blown bump, roll and jump motion of sand particles. It sits on the highest point of the newly created sea dike, which subsequently was adorned with a juvenile dune landscape.
Construction works have begun. Inauguration will be in June 2015.
More information will be available soon on the projects page of this website.
