As part of the percent-for-art-scheme of the Biomedical Centre in Munich the artwork Genothek will be commissioned by the State of Bavaria. The new Biomedical Center (BMC) is part of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University and is the future home of the Molecular Biology Unit. With its 150 Mio € budget the BMC is the largest construction project of a research institute in Germany at present.
Genothek is the open air libary for the 6000 books of each 1000 pages containing 1000 characters one needs to describe the human genetic code.
