Sabbatical Andre Dekker - new Partner Lieven Poutsma
From December 1 I will interrupt the 14 years old regime of meeting daily with my friends and partners in the workshop/office/building site. First I felt was missing out on something, or rather everything. The restlessness was caused by the sheer amount of projects, or rather our success. I needed to stop working, or rather slow down.
Sometimes people ask us of we lead a contemplative life, asking questions about the human environments, observing the world turning, living big pieces of time. This could my life as of now until next autumn. Four seasons of studying the history of public sculpture, travelling to inspirations I have not seen, meeting with old partners I can't forget and looking for opportunities in countries I don't know.
Still Observatorium will be three partners working daily on inspirational artworks, because Lieven Poutsma joined the team. He was our intern while studying at the The Hague Art Academy in 2012 and he was chosen Best Student of the Year by the Dutch Association of Interior Architects. In 2013 and 2014 he collaborated with Observatorium on successful projects in Poland, London and the Ruhr and headed Young Observatorium. From oktober 2014 he is the fourth partner of Observatorium, living and working in Rotterdam. Andre Dekker
